A motion calling upon Essex County Council to publish the full cost of the EU to the taxpayers of Essex has been defeated by an alliance of councillors from the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat parties.
Reacting to news that Ministers want to use emergency powers to block a report on HS2 that may find the project to be in danger of failing, UKIP Deputy Leader Paul Nuttall described the episode as an example of "shoddy politics".
This is a Chancellor who has got his priorities wrong. He promised in 2010 that he would focus on cutting the deficit and reduce debt but under him the Government will have borrowed £198 billion more than he pledged.
UKIP Leader Nigel Farage comments: "The Government are desperately trying to bury the news that they are blocking any debate on the removal of restrictions to Bulgaria and Romania by delaying the vote on the Immigration Bill on the same day as the Chancellor's Autumn statement.
“This cut in subsidies for onshore wind farms is a political stunt by a Government desperate to appease the large numbers of voters sick of turbines despoiling the British countryside'" says UKIP Energy Spokesman Roger Helmer MEP.
